Yinkyem School added another feather to its cap recently when it defied all odds and staged the first ever summer funfair for pupils in Mafoluku community in Oshodi Local Government Area of Lagos State.

 

Yinkyem School added another feather to its cap recently when it defied all odds and staged the first ever summer funfair for pupils in Mafoluku community in Oshodi Local Government Area of Lagos State.

 

The two days event which was held at the school premises witnessed a large turnout of pupils and adults who seized the opportunity of the 2 day funfair to catch fun even as many adults used the event to overcome boredom.

The event accorded pupils of Yinkyem School to interact with pupils from other schools. The event also fostered neighbourhood interaction between pupils of same community and neighb ouring communities. The pupils did not only dance but also caught series of fun through the various fun facility provided by the organiser. There were video games, educative movies, ludo games, table tennis; dance competition raffle draw amongst others which kept both young and old entertained.

The presence of ace presenter and style icon known for his crazy hairstyle and high-heeled shoes, Denrele edun however ignited the event as members of the community people trooped out not only to see the artiste but to also take photographs with him. Denrele presence was the icing on the cake as everyone scrambled to get a piece of him. It was obvious that Denrele hit a soft spot in the heart of all mafoluku-oshodi.

The star however surprised everyone with his arrival as he came straight from the hospital being on medication having been a little under the weather. Denrele defying the weather stood under the rain without any bodyguard sandwiched between his many fans doing what he does best, talking and thrilling his audience. He proved to all and sundry that he’s a man of the people as he spent his precious time to relate and take photographs with as many people as possible. In a brief chat with New Lagos Times education at the event,  Edun said he is happy to be in the event and relate with people at the grass root level.

Participants of the event did not only eat but many of them also went home with various prizes among which is ipad in which the winner emerged through raffle draw that was coordinated by Denrele.

 

What may however sound as a surprise is the fact that admission into the event was free. The proprietress, Yinkyem School, Mrs Adewuyi  Ibiyinka said the idea behind the program is to help pupils in the community overcome boredom after a whole session of academic work.
