The World Trade Organisation(WTO) Young Professionals Program (YPP)

The World Trade Organization (WTO) deals with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.
The WTO is welcoming applications for its 2022 Young Professionals Programme (YPP), which allows qualified young professionals from developing and least-developed countries to enhance their knowledge regarding WTO and international trade issues.
The YPP is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience which can help open the door for future professional opportunities in the field of multilateral diplomacy and global trade
Eligibility
A candidate must:
1 be a national of a WTO member state
2 have an advanced university degree in law, economics, and other international trade-related subjects relevant to WTO work
3 have a minimum of two years’ relevant experience
4 demonstrate a high level of interest in international trade and commitment to WTO-related work
5 be fluent in English. A good working knowledge of one of the WTO’s other official languages, French or Spanish, would be an advantage
6 be 32 years of age or younger at the expected start date of the YPP, if selected.
Preference is given to nationals from WTO members without any representation at the professional level in the Secretariat.
The YPP selection gives preference to young professionals from developing and least-developed countries that are members of the WTO and whose nationals are currently under-represented or not represented in the organization’s Secretariat.
The programme is part of the Secretariat’s overall goal to increase its diversity to better reflect the make-up of its membership.
Deadline
Aplication closes on the 29th of April 2021.
The selected candidates will work at the WTO Secretariat for one year, starting in January 2022.
Method of Application
Applicants must submit their application through the E-recruitment system along side with their cover letter of motivation.
Only applications from nationals of WTO Members will be accepted.

Duration
One year without possibility of extension.
Remuneration and benefits
Participants under the programme receive a monthly salary of CHF 3,500.
The WTO also provides appropriate medical cover and travel costs.
